The following is a compilation of incidents and arrests recorded in the Cambridge Police Department's official public log for the period July 5–7, 2026. All persons listed are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Domestic violence incidents, sexual assaults, and juvenile matters are excluded per Massachusetts law (G.L. c. 41, section 98F).
Sunday, July 5, 7:48 a.m. — Crash / Unlicensed Operation: A Southbridge resident will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court on charges of operating a motor vehicle without a license, stemming from a crash at Cambridge Street and Prospect Street. Minor injuries were reported.
Sunday, July 5, 8:13 a.m. — Recovered Stolen Vehicle: Officers recovered a motor vehicle on Mt. Auburn Street that had been reported stolen from Randolph.
Sunday, July 5, 11:33 a.m. — Shoplifting: An employee of a Massachusetts Avenue business reported a suspect stole approximately $200 in merchandise and fled; the suspect was stopped and identified nearby and the items were returned.
Sunday, July 5, 12:07 p.m. — Larceny: A victim reported their phone was stolen from a business on the Massachusetts Avenue corridor.
Sunday, July 5, 12:59 p.m. — Trespassing / Tampering: A Mason Street resident reported a known individual has been tampering with the electrical box at their residence.
Sunday, July 5, 12:59 p.m. — Larceny: An Allston Street resident reported an e-scooter valued at $500 was stolen from a bike rack at the corner of Washington Street and Columbia Street.
Sunday, July 5, 1:49 p.m. — Shoplifting: An employee of an Alewife Brook Parkway business reported a suspect stole $300 in merchandise and fled.
Sunday, July 5, 3:40 p.m. — Hit and Run: A reporting party at Hayes Street and Howard Street stated their parked vehicle was struck and the other driver fled, causing damage.
Sunday, July 5, 4:48 p.m. — Package Theft: A Palermo Street resident reported a package containing $50 in merchandise was stolen from their front door.
Sunday, July 5, 5:15 p.m. — Arrest: Officers stopped Luis Do Couto after observing him attempting to light a substance in a suspected crack pipe on Magazine Street; suspected heroin was found in his possession. Luis Do Couto, 50, of Braintree, was charged with Possession of a Class A Drug.
Sunday, July 5, 7:39 p.m. — Larceny: A JFK Street resident reported an e-scooter, phone mount, and cuff-style lock valued at $1,130 were stolen from near their residence at JFK Street and Winthrop Street.
Sunday, July 5, 9:52 p.m. — Shoplifting (Summons): A Dorchester resident will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court on a charge of Shoplifting by Concealment (second offense) after an employee of a Massachusetts Avenue business reported the suspect stole $187.50 in merchandise.
Monday, July 6, 3:20 a.m. — Assault: A victim on Brookline Place reported being struck in the head from behind by two unknown suspects. Minor injuries were reported.
Monday, July 6, 8:47 a.m. — Larceny: A New Street resident reported two e-scooters valued at $531 were stolen from a locked bike room at their residence.
Monday, July 6, 9:43 a.m. — Larceny: A Wendell Street resident reported an e-bike valued at approximately $450 was stolen from a community room at their residence.
Monday, July 6, 10:11 a.m. — Hit and Run: A reporting party on Windsor Street stated their parked vehicle was struck and the other driver fled, causing damage.
Monday, July 6, 10:41 a.m. — Breaking and Entering: A Columbia Street resident reported an unknown individual broke a window screen and entered their residence; nothing is believed to have been stolen.
Monday, July 6, 10:58 a.m. — Check Fraud: A Concord Avenue business reported a check valued at $4,184 was fraudulently cashed.
Monday, July 6, 11:07 a.m. — Larceny: A Main Street resident reported a bicycle valued at $600 was stolen from a bike rack at the rear of their residence.
Monday, July 6, 11:40 a.m. — Larceny: A Sidney Street resident reported a bicycle valued at $2,040 was stolen from a locked storage area at their residence.
Monday, July 6, 12:09 p.m. — Identity Fraud: A Corporal McTernan Street resident reported an unknown person used their personal information to open an unauthorized account, which was used for an unauthorized transaction totaling $1,796.44.
Monday, July 6, 12:21 p.m. — Hit and Run / Pedestrian Struck: A pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle in the Massachusetts Avenue area and sustained non-life-threatening injuries; the vehicle fled.
Monday, July 6, 12:50 p.m. — Shoplifting: An employee of an Alewife Brook Parkway business reported a suspect stole $30 in merchandise and fled.
Monday, July 6, 1:01 p.m. — Traffic Crash: A scooter operator on Massachusetts Avenue reported being struck by a car door while riding; no injuries were reported.
Monday, July 6, 1:03 p.m. — Hit and Run: A reporting party on Cambridgepark Drive stated their vehicle's right front bumper was struck in traffic and the other driver fled; no injuries were reported.
Monday, July 6, 1:30 p.m. — Arrest: Lenneth O'Neal was taken into custody on Rindge Avenue on an active warrant out of Cambridge District Court. Lenneth O'Neal, 48, of Dorchester, was arrested on the outstanding warrant.
Monday, July 6, 2:25 p.m. — Larceny: A Massachusetts Avenue resident reported two bicycles valued at $1,800 and $1,310 were stolen from their residence basement.
Monday, July 6, 3:40 p.m. — Vandalism / Hate Incident: A reporting party on Putnam Avenue stated an unknown individual wrote a slur on their parked motor vehicle.
Monday, July 6, 3:42 p.m. — Arrest: Justin Baptiste was arrested on Bishop Allen Drive after an employee of a local business reported he stole a tip jar and verbally accosted two employees with sexually explicit comments. Justin Baptiste, 33, of Brockton, was charged with Annoying and Accosting, Larceny from a Person, and held on a warrant out of Taunton District Court.
Monday, July 6, 3:50 p.m. — Larceny: A reporting party at Main Street and Massachusetts Avenue reported a rental bicycle was stolen.
Monday, July 6, 3:55 p.m. — Larceny (Summons): A Brockton resident will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court on a charge of Larceny from a Building after an employee of a Massachusetts Avenue business reported the suspect stole approximately $60 in tips.
Monday, July 6, 4:06 p.m. — Wallet Theft / Credit Card Fraud: A Bow Street victim reported their wallet was stolen and unauthorized transactions totaling $200 were made.
Monday, July 6, 4:55 p.m. — Hit and Run: A reporting party at Concord Avenue and Garden Street stated their vehicle was rear-ended in traffic and the other driver fled; no injuries were reported.
Monday, July 6, 5:13 p.m. — Shoplifting: An employee of a Somerville Avenue business reported a suspect stole approximately $120 in merchandise and fled.
Monday, July 6, 7:03 p.m. — Harassment: An Inman Street resident reported ongoing harassment from a neighbor.
Monday, July 6, 8:07 p.m. — Vandalism: A Wheeler Street resident reported a neighbor urinated on their balcony.
Monday, July 6, 9:18 p.m. — Shoplifting: An employee of a Massachusetts Avenue business reported a suspect stole $114 in merchandise and fled.
Monday, July 6, 9:44 p.m. — Assault / Weapon: A reporting party on Massachusetts Avenue stated they felt threatened by an unknown individual who possibly had a knife.
Monday, July 6, 9:49 p.m. — Shoplifting: An employee of a Somerville Avenue business reported a suspect stole $100 in merchandise and fled.
Monday, July 6, 9:58 p.m. — Larceny: A Massachusetts Avenue resident reported a bicycle valued at $500 was stolen from a bike rack.
Tuesday, July 7, 8:42 a.m. — Crash / Pedestrian Struck: A pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle near Cushing Street and Vineyard Street, sustaining minor injuries; the victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital. The vehicle operator was cited.
Tuesday, July 7, 9:08 a.m. — Arrest: Officers responding to a Cambridge Street medical facility on a disturbance report found that Glaysay Lawrence had thrown hot coffee on staff members and made verbal threats to harm them during a dispute over medication. Glaysay Lawrence, 29, of Lowell, was charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Threats to Commit Crime.
Tuesday, July 7, 9:25 a.m. — Larceny: An Education Street business reported a former employee failed to return company equipment valued at $1,174 after being terminated.
Tuesday, July 7, 9:45 a.m. — Scam: A Franklin Street victim reported an unknown individual impersonating an out-of-state police officer solicited money from them.
Tuesday, July 7, 10:15 a.m. — Hit and Run: A reporting party at Inman Street and Massachusetts Avenue stated their vehicle was struck while entering a parking lot and the other driver fled; no injuries were reported.
Tuesday, July 7, 10:36 a.m. — Scam: A Fulkerson Street victim reported being scammed by a known individual out of approximately $20,000.
Tuesday, July 7, 11:06 a.m. — Larceny: A victim reported their bag, containing personal items and documents, was stolen from their hotel room on Acorn Park Drive.
Tuesday, July 7, 11:10 a.m. — Hit and Run: A reporting party on Upton Street stated their vehicle was struck in traffic and the other driver fled; no injuries were reported.
Tuesday, July 7, 11:27 a.m. — Larceny from Person: A victim near Porter Square reported their shoulder bag and wallet were stolen near Pigeon Park on Massachusetts Avenue.
Tuesday, July 7, 11:48 a.m. — Arrest: An employee of a Somerville Avenue business reported John Williams stole $338 in merchandise. John Williams, 45, unhoused, was charged with Shoplifting by Asportation and held on a warrant out of Taunton District Court.
Tuesday, July 7, 12:44 p.m. — Larceny: A Wendell Street resident reported a bicycle valued at $1,572 was stolen from the lobby of their residence.
Tuesday, July 7, 1:17 p.m. — Larceny: A Cottage Park Avenue resident reported a bicycle valued at $746.86 was stolen from a locked bike rack.
Tuesday, July 7, 2:47 p.m. — Arrest: Officers responding to a breaking and entering call at a Massachusetts Avenue building found Patricia Gil attempting to flee through a window. Patricia Gil, 41, of Andover, was charged with Breaking and Entering.
Tuesday, July 7, 4:55 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Theft: A victim reported their vehicle was stolen while parked in a Massachusetts Avenue parking lot.
Tuesday, July 7, 5:02 p.m. — Suspicious Package: Officers and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit responded to an unattended package on Sixth Street; it was determined not to be hazardous.
Tuesday, July 7, 6:42 p.m. — Attempted Breaking and Entering: A Concord Avenue victim reported an unknown individual attempted to open their parked vehicle's door outside a residence.
Tuesday, July 7, 7:27 p.m. — Hit and Run: A reporting party on Prescott Street stated their parked vehicle was struck and the other driver fled, causing damage.
Tuesday, July 7, 9:06 p.m. — Shoplifting: An employee of a Mt. Auburn Street business reported a suspect stole $500 in merchandise and fled.
Tuesday, July 7, 9:58 p.m. — Residential Larceny: A victim on North First Street reported someone entered their residence while they were away and stole jewelry valued at $2,000.
Tuesday, July 7, 11:31 p.m. — Breaking and Entering (Report): A Leonard Avenue resident reported the door to their residence was found ajar; officers checked the residence, located no one inside, and found nothing missing or stolen.
