The following is a compilation of incidents and arrests recorded in the Cambridge Police Department's official public log for the period September 24-26, 2026. All persons listed are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Domestic violence incidents, sexual assaults, and juvenile matters are excluded per Massachusetts law (G.L. c. 41, section 98F).


Thursday, September 24, 8:34 a.m. — Larceny: A vehicle parked on the 0-100 block of Sherman Street was broken into; items valued at $25 and a wallet were stolen.

Thursday, September 24, 8:48 a.m. — Threat to Commit Crime: An unknown individual was reported yelling at and threatening people on Massachusetts Avenue near Central Square.

Thursday, September 24, 8:55 a.m. — Larceny: A bicycle valued at $300 was stolen from a backyard on Harvard Street.

Thursday, September 24, 9:36 a.m. — Leaving Scene of Personal Injury: A hit-and-run involving a bicyclist was reported at Massachusetts Avenue and Vassar Street. The cyclist sustained minor injuries.

Thursday, September 24, 10:08 a.m. — Arrest: An arrest was made near Massachusetts Avenue and Pleasant Street on an active warrant. Lyle Oates, 38, unhoused, was arrested on an active warrant out of Lowell District Court.

Thursday, September 24, 10:19 a.m. — Disorderly Conduct: A disturbance was reported on Rindge Avenue.

Thursday, September 24, 11:22 a.m. — Malicious Destruction of Property: An unknown individual smashed an office building window on Massachusetts Avenue.

Thursday, September 24, 11:59 a.m. — Assault and Battery: A victim on Massachusetts Avenue reported an unknown individual dumped a bucket of urine from a window and struck them.

Thursday, September 24, 12:45 p.m. — Shoplifting: A suspect stole $40 of merchandise from a business on JFK Street and fled before officers arrived.

Thursday, September 24, 1:10 p.m. — Larceny: A bicycle valued at $215 was stolen from a locked fence in a front yard on Massachusetts Avenue.

Thursday, September 24, 1:10 p.m. — Breaking Into Depository: A vehicle parked on Frost Street was broken into; items valued at $160 were stolen.

Thursday, September 24, 1:10 p.m. — Shoplifting: A suspect stole $89 of merchandise from a Brattle Street business and fled before officers arrived.

Thursday, September 24, 1:52 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Larceny: A vehicle was stolen from a parking lot on Lambert Street.

Thursday, September 24, 2:58 p.m. — Criminal Harassment: Harassment through social media was reported on Main Street.

Thursday, September 24, 3:59 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Larceny: A motor vehicle was reported stolen on Wellington Lane.

Thursday, September 24, 4:38 p.m. — Traffic Crash: A motor vehicle crash involving a cyclist was reported at Huron Avenue and Lakeview Avenue; no injuries were reported.

Thursday, September 24, 4:47 p.m. — Arrest: An arrest was made on Brattle Street following a drug and warrant investigation. Michael Hanley, 40, of Boston, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Class A Drug and an active warrant out of Chelsea District Court.

Thursday, September 24, 5:05 p.m. — Larceny: A cell phone was stolen from a residence on Boardman Street.

Thursday, September 24, 6:29 p.m. — Shoplifting: Two Cambridge residents will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court after allegedly stealing $251 of merchandise from a Massachusetts Avenue business.

Friday, September 25, 1:51 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Larceny: A motor vehicle was reported stolen on Brattle Street.

Friday, September 25, 2:05 a.m. — Arrest: A driver was stopped at Bishop Allen Drive and Columbia Street. Shannon Phelan, 45, of Woburn, was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Second Offense, and Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Friday, September 25, 8:49 a.m. — Identity Fraud: A Massachusetts Avenue resident reported an unauthorized withdrawal from their bank account.

Friday, September 25, 10:28 a.m. — Identity Fraud: Identity theft was reported on Magnolia Avenue.

Friday, September 25, 10:30 a.m. — Arrest: An arrest was made near Beech Street and Massachusetts Avenue on multiple outstanding warrants. Matthew Marujo, 32, of Cambridge, was arrested on eight warrants out of Somerville, Waltham, Brookline, and Cambridge District Courts.

Friday, September 25, 1:11 p.m. — Hit and Run: A parked vehicle on Maple Avenue was struck and damaged; the other party left the scene.

Friday, September 25, 2:00 p.m. — Hit and Run: A parked vehicle on Alewife Brook Parkway was struck and damaged; the other party left the scene.

Friday, September 25, 3:36 p.m. — Larceny: A package containing $300 in merchandise was stolen from the front of a residence on Concord Avenue.

Friday, September 25, 4:17 p.m. — Hit and Run: A parked vehicle on Lambert Street was struck and damaged; the other party left the scene.

Friday, September 25, 5:20 p.m. — Larceny: An e-bike valued at $500 was stolen from outside a business on Massachusetts Avenue.

Friday, September 25, 6:58 p.m. — Assault/Road Rage: An assault in progress following a road rage incident was reported on Tudor Street; no injuries were reported.

Friday, September 25, 7:19 p.m. — Shoplifting: A Boston resident will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court on a charge of Shoplifting by Concealing Merchandise, Second Offense, after allegedly stealing $93 of merchandise from a Massachusetts Avenue business.

Friday, September 25, 7:56 p.m. — Traffic Summons: A Cambridge resident will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court on a charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License following a traffic stop on Columbia Street.

Friday, September 25, 10:21 p.m. — Traffic Crash: A motor vehicle crash involving a cyclist was reported at Broadway and Portland Street. The cyclist sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. Both the motorist and cyclist were cited.

Saturday, September 26, 2:18 a.m. — Assault and Battery: A victim at Massachusetts Avenue and Porter Road reported being kicked in the head by an unknown individual and was transported to a hospital.

Saturday, September 26, 3:38 a.m. — Summons: A Somerville resident will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court on charges of Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime and Defacing Property on Hampshire Street.

Saturday, September 26, 5:16 a.m. — Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon: Two individuals threatened one another with various items during an argument at Massachusetts Avenue and Pearl Street; no injuries were reported.

Saturday, September 26, 8:14 a.m. — Breaking and Entering, Motor Vehicle: A vehicle parked on Clifton Street was broken into; nothing is believed to have been stolen.

Saturday, September 26, 9:38 a.m. — Assault: A disturbance following a minor motor vehicle crash was reported near Concord Avenue and Fawcett Street.

Saturday, September 26, 11:10 a.m. — Credit Card Fraud: An Arlington Street resident reported an unauthorized $5,000 bank transaction.

Saturday, September 26, 11:25 a.m. — Criminal Harassment: Harassing emails were reported at a Dunster Street business.

Saturday, September 26, 11:55 a.m. — Larceny: Money was stolen from an ATM on West Street after being left there.

Saturday, September 26, 12:56 p.m. — Hit and Run: A parked vehicle on Alewife Brook Parkway was struck and damaged; the other party left the scene.

Saturday, September 26, 3:28 p.m. — Credit Card Fraud: A Huron Avenue resident reported a rideshare account was charged $537.11 after their ride ended.

Saturday, September 26, 5:29 p.m. — Hit and Run: A parked vehicle at Broadway and Ware Street was struck and damaged; the other party left the scene.

Saturday, September 26, 10:50 p.m. — Suspicious Package: An unattended package on Massachusetts Avenue was inspected by the Explosive Ordnance Unit and determined not to be hazardous.
