The city is also warning drivers and pedestrians about temporary street closures from Thursday, June 26 through Sunday, June 29. Two events are driving the disruptions: the City Dance Party and the Summer Classic 5K. In other municipal news, the city is calling on artists to apply for its Cool Spots program, which funds temporary shade structures designed to provide heat relief and encourage community gathering. Cambridge has also joined a broad coalition of local governments and nonprofit organizations filing legal action against the Trump-Vance administration over proposed restrictions to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Continuum of Care program. The coalition argues the restrictions are unlawful and could push hundreds of thousands of people into homelessness before winter.
