Broadway Safety Project Enters Final Construction Phase

CAMBRIDGE — Cambridge has moved into the final major phase of the Broadway Safety Improvement Project, with visible street changes expected in the coming weeks between Lee Street and Quincy Street, the city announced.

The Broadway Safety Improvement Project's installation work is continuing into its last major phase for 2026, according to the city's News Flash. Officials said residents will start seeing more visible changes on the street in the Lee Street to Quincy Street section over the coming weeks.

Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui and City Manager Yi-An Huang issued a joint statement following Friday evening's fatal officer-involved shooting of a man in his 60s on Temple Street, a story the city's News Flash also covered today. Separately, the city's last day for early in-person voting ahead of the Sept. 1 state primary was Friday, Aug. 28, at noon, with same-day and absentee options still available through Election Day.
