Cambridge Declares Heat Advisory For Thursday
CAMBRIDGE — The City of Cambridge declared a heat advisory for Thursday, August 6, citing National Weather Service forecasts, as Patch separately reported that more than 40 Massachusetts beaches have closed amid the same heat wave.

City officials said Wednesday that they are declaring a heat advisory beginning Thursday, August 6, 2026, based on National Weather Service forecasts, though the city's announcement did not specify cooling-center hours or a advisory end date. The declaration comes as the region works through what is now a Level 3 Critical Drought designation.
Separately, the city posted detailed voting information ahead of the September 1, 2026 State Primary, covering voter registration, voting by mail, early in-person voting, Election Day procedures and specimen ballots for residents who want to review their choices in advance.
The Community Benefits Advisory Committee also gave nonprofits an early heads-up on a new competitive grant round intended to support community-based organizations that serve Cambridge residents' critical needs; the city said full application details will follow. And the city's new Free Seed Library, housed in the Public Works building at 147 Hampshire Street, is now open, with packets available to any resident who wants them.
