The following is a compilation of incidents and arrests recorded in the Cambridge Police Department's official public log for the period September 9–9, 2026. All persons listed are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Domestic violence incidents, sexual assaults, and juvenile matters are excluded per Massachusetts law (G.L. c. 41, section 98F).


Wednesday, September 9, 6:39 a.m.Assault and Battery: A victim on Massachusetts Avenue reported that an unknown individual slapped them in the face.

Wednesday, September 9, 7:22 a.m.Suspicious Package: Officers responded to the area of Binney Street and First Street for an unattended package; the Explosive Ordnance Unit inspected the item and determined it was not hazardous.

Wednesday, September 9, 8:05 a.m.Arrest: An employee of an Alewife Brook Parkway business reported that Nelson Holoway Bell had stolen $10 worth of merchandise; Bell physically resisted officers when confronted. Nelson Holoway Bell, 44, unhoused, was charged with Shoplifting by Asportation and Resisting Arrest.

Wednesday, September 9, 8:23 a.m.Crash, Cyclist Injured: A crash involving a cyclist was reported at Cambridge Street and Warren Street; the cyclist sustained minor injuries and the motorist was cited.

Wednesday, September 9, 9:02 a.m.Larceny: A child stroller valued at $600 was reported stolen from outside a residence on Chatham Street.

Wednesday, September 9, 9:37 a.m.Motor Vehicle Summons: A Somerville resident will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court following a traffic stop on Cambridge Street. The resident faces charges of Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Revoked Registration.

Wednesday, September 9, 12:43 p.m.Motor Vehicle Summons: A Boston resident will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court after leaving an uninsured and unregistered vehicle on a public way on Cushing Street.

Wednesday, September 9, 1:21 p.m.Larceny: An unknown individual stole a backpack containing items valued at $1,700 from Massachusetts Avenue.

Wednesday, September 9, 1:24 p.m.Hit and Run: A vehicle was struck in traffic at Fayerweather Street and Huron Avenue; the at-fault driver fled and no injuries were reported.

Wednesday, September 9, 1:39 p.m.Shoplifting: An employee of a Massachusetts Avenue business reported $199.73 in merchandise stolen; the items were recovered by loss prevention.

Wednesday, September 9, 2:34 p.m.Arrest: Officers arrested Zachary T. Tringali on JFK Street on an outstanding warrant from Cambridge District Court. Zachary T. Tringali, 32, of Cambridge, was charged with the underlying warrant offense.

Wednesday, September 9, 2:37 p.m.Property Damage: A hit-and-run property damage incident was reported at a CambridgePark Drive business.

Wednesday, September 9, 3:06 p.m.Shoplifting: An employee of a Massachusetts Avenue business reported $137.03 in merchandise stolen; the suspect fled before officers arrived.

Wednesday, September 9, 3:20 p.m.Larceny: A bicycle valued at $900 was reported stolen from a bicycle rack on Rindge Avenue.

Wednesday, September 9, 3:38 p.m.Shoplifting: An employee of a JFK Street business reported $10 in merchandise stolen; the suspect fled before officers arrived.

Wednesday, September 9, 3:40 p.m.Shoplifting: An employee of an Alewife Brook Parkway business reported $800 in merchandise stolen; the items were recovered by loss prevention.

Wednesday, September 9, 4:35 p.m.Hit and Run: A pedestrian on Massachusetts Avenue at Washburn Avenue reported being struck by a motor vehicle whose driver fled.

Wednesday, September 9, 4:53 p.m.Suspicious Package: Officers responded to the area of Longfellow Bridge and Memorial Drive for an unattended package; the Explosive Ordnance Unit inspected the item and determined it was not hazardous.

Wednesday, September 9, 5:26 p.m.Crash: A motor vehicle crash involving a scooter was reported on Alewife Brook Parkway.

Wednesday, September 9, 6:09 p.m.Arrest: Todd Callbeck was arrested on Massachusetts Avenue on an outstanding warrant from Quincy District Court. Todd Callbeck, 30, of Boston, was held on the warrant.

Wednesday, September 9, 6:35 p.m.Identity Fraud: A Memorial Drive resident reported receiving a phone call from a person impersonating a New York City Police Department officer who claimed the resident's information had been used in a fraud scheme.

Wednesday, September 9, 6:48 p.m.Breaking and Entering: An unknown person gained entry to a residence on Yerxa Road; the incident was reported after the fact.

Wednesday, September 9, 7:23 p.m.Vehicle Break-In: A Kirkland Road resident reported their parked vehicle was broken into; a vehicle registration document and registration sticker were stolen.

Wednesday, September 9, 8:47 p.m.Breaking and Entering: An unknown person gained entry to a residence on Marcella Street and stole medication; the incident was reported after the fact.

Wednesday, September 9, 10:04 p.m.Larceny: A missing wallet was reported on Mt. Auburn Street.
