Cambridge Special Olympics basketball team heads to national championship in Minneapolis this month.

CAMBRIDGE -- The Cambridge Warriors, the city's Special Olympics basketball team, will travel to Minneapolis to compete in the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games National Championship, according to Cambridge Recreation. The city's Department of Human Service Programs describes the Warriors as undefeated and is encouraging community members to learn more and find ways to support the team's journey.

TOWN -- Gold Star Pool opened Saturday, June 20, for the 2026 season, Cambridge Recreation announced. The city's "Fun Under the Sun" program is also under way, bringing sports and activities to Summer Food parks. Cambridge Recreation's War Memorial Recreation Center continues to offer classes for youth and adults, along with basketball courts and pool access. The Thomas P. O'Neill, Jr. Municipal Golf Course at Fresh Pond is open for the season; tee times are available through the city's website.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Cambridge Youth Soccer (CYS) posted an upcoming event for girls: a soccer and food gathering at Jerkfest on July 12. No game results or standings were reported for the period. Cambridge Youth Hockey announced that 2026–2027 placement registration is now open; skaters can register through the club's website. Cambridge Youth Lacrosse posted a general end-of-season congratulations to its 2026 Falcons, noting it as a "Semi-quincentennial season," but reported no specific scores or results.
