CAMBRIDGE --
TOWN -- Cambridge Recreation, part of the city's Department of Human Service Programs, posted a notice this week inviting registration for "2026 Cambridge Pride Basketball Tryouts." Separately, the department's events calendar lists a "Vampire-O Orienteering" session at Danehy Park on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. The free event, run by Navigation Games and sponsored by DHSP, is open to all ages, with teams of two to four people navigating the park to find checkpoints "before vampires steal them."
YOUTH LEAGUES -- Cambridge Youth Hockey announced that placement registration for its 2026-2027 season is "now open," with the club saying it is "now enrolling for the winter season." The club, home of the Falcons and based at Simoni Skating Rink in East Cambridge, also flagged a new statewide equipment rule: "Starting August 1 Massachusetts youth hockey players are now required to wear neck guards in games and practices. Please come prepared!"
