City Contractor Begins Roadway Paving Work Across Cambridge
The city's contractor began roadway milling and paving operations this week as Cambridge Public Library rolled out its Park Sounds summer concert series, with the folk duo the Lion Sisters set to perform Saturday on the Main Branch lawn.

Newport Construction, the city's paving contractor, began roadway milling and paving operations the week of July 20, weather permitting, as part of ongoing citywide road enhancement work, according to the city's News Flash feed. The city also continued to flag its Pop-Up Recycle Center program, with the fifth of ten planned neighborhood events scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, an effort the Department of Public Works says is meant to make it easier for residents to safely dispose of items prohibited in regular trash pickup.
Teen Night Live, the city's youth center programming series for residents ages 14 to 19, continues running weekday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. through August 14, offering skill-based workshops and field trips at Cambridge youth centers.

Cambridge Public Library's Park Sounds series continues Saturday, July 25 at 2 p.m. with a performance by the Lion Sisters, a sibling duo from New Hampshire blending folk, bluegrass, Irish fiddle and vintage country styles, on the front lawn of the Main Branch. The free, all-ages outdoor concert series is funded by the CPL Foundation in memory of Janet Axelrod.
The library's Boudreau branch will host Chess Hour on Monday, July 27 at 5 p.m., a drop-in gathering open to players of all skill levels with sets provided, and no registration required. The Valente Branch continues its expanded Sunday hours, open 1 to 5 p.m. through August, while the Main Library remains closed Sundays until September.
