CAMBRIDGE — February 29, 2024 — Cambridge zoning board unanimously approves six applications at rare leap-day meeting. The Cambridge Board of Zoning Appeals, chaired by Jim Monteverdi, voted 5-0 on every contested item at its February 29 meeting, granting special permits and variances for projects ranging from a dormer renovation at 72-A Inman Street — where the homeowners said an unexplained allergy forces the remodel — to a new holistic veterinary acupuncture practice at 1762 Massachusetts Avenue and a fifth Cambridge location for the nonprofit Havad in Cambridge daycare at 118 Magazine Street in Cambridgeport. The board also cleared two new single-family homes at 4 Hallworthy Terrace, conditioning the variance on solid-material guardrails around second-floor decks, and approved a like-for-like antenna swap for AT&T at the Royal Sonesta Hotel at 40 Land Boulevard under the board's standard electromagnetic-emissions reporting conditions. One application, for a variance at 16 James Way, was withdrawn by proponent Lan Zhang before a vote.
