Cambridge Outlines Voting Options For September Primary
Cambridge election officials this week laid out voting options for the September 1 state primary, setting an August 22 deadline for residents to register, while the state eased the region's drought status and the city opened a new round of youth grant funding.
TOWN HALL
For Cambridge residents not already registered to vote, Saturday, Aug. 22, is the last day to sign up, update an address, or change a party affiliation ahead of the September 1 State Primary. The city's online registration system stays open until 11:59 p.m. that day, and residents can also register in person. Anyone who wants a mailed ballot must submit a vote-by-mail application by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
In an update to the region's monthslong drought, the state on Monday downgraded Cambridge and the surrounding Northeast region from a Level 3 critical drought to a Level 2 significant drought, according to the city's Water Department. Cambridge had been under critical drought status since late May; conservation guidance remains in effect even at the lower level.
