Cambridge Enters Final Phase Of Broadway Safety Project
CAMBRIDGE — The city began the final major phase of construction on the Broadway Safety Improvement Project on August 10, with visible street changes coming to the corridor between Lee and Quincy streets over the next several weeks. Separately, City Hall is recruiting residents to fill three board and commission vacancies by an August 21 deadline.

The Broadway Safety Improvement Project moved into its final 2026 implementation phase on August 10, according to the city's News Flash feed. Installation work will continue over the coming weeks, with the most visible changes concentrated in the stretch of Broadway between Lee Street and Quincy Street.
The city is also seeking community members to fill vacancies on three bodies: the Commercial Parking Control Committee, the Commission on Immigrant Rights and Citizenship, and the Police Review & Advisory Board. The application deadline for each seat is August 21.
The city's contractor, Newport Construction, began its milling and paving operations on several city streets on August 10 as planned, continuing the citywide repaving push announced earlier in the week.
