The city's Broadway Safety Improvement Project moved into its last major construction phase of 2026 this week, with the Department of Public Works signaling that residents between Lee Street and Quincy Street will see visible changes on the roadway over the coming weeks.

The City of Cambridge said installation work on the Broadway corridor is continuing into its final major 2026 phase, with construction activity concentrated in the stretch between Lee and Quincy streets. The city did not provide a specific completion date but said residents should expect more visible changes to the street in the near term.
Separately, the city confirmed it will conduct overnight paving in Central Square beginning Sunday, August 23 at 8 p.m., with work expected to run until approximately 4 a.m. Monday, August 24.
